Service Requests

As you come across potholes, contact us with a good description of where they are -- nearest address, distance from intersection, what side of the road, etc. We can always use another set of “eyes” out there!

Winter Preparedness

We are gearing up for winter. Our winter sand pile is nearly as tall as as our salt barn.  Sander boxes, spreaders and blades are being installed as our trucks change gears from summer to winter operations.

There is still time to check your furnace and its filters, smoke detectors, chimneys and mailboxes.  The often-overlooked mailbox needs to be checked, too.  Click here for a quick overview on mailbox winter survival tips - a few minutes of inspection and repair could save hours of outdoor repairs and lost/damaged mail.

Snowfall summary is as follows:

November 2011 2.5"

December 2011 2.75"

January 2012 48.50" for a season total of 53.75"

Check the snowfall detail amounts here.

Current Maintenance & Construction

Winter preparations continue into mild start to winter.  Periodic icy conditions are reacted to as needed, and until such time is necessary, we are continuing on our gravel road grading and pothole patching.

Gravel Roads - Grading/Blading

Just as the snowplow routes were amended for the 2010-2011 winter season to improve efficiencies, our gravel road blade routes were reorganized.  Road blading will be done as a route, generally on a weekly basis.

Seasonal roads are separate and will be done once in the spring after non-seasonal gravel roads are completed.

Gravel Roads - Graveling

Townships were offered a cost-sharing plan to improve gravel roads.  GTCRC provided labor and equipment if the township provides the gravel.  In 2011, many roads were done under this plan with great results.  The townships that participated were, Grant, Peninsula and Paradise. Contact your township to determine their ability to participate in this plan for 2012.

Paved Roads - Sealcoating

New in 2011 is a cost-sharing program for sealcoating. GTCRC has allocated the equivalent of nine days of sealcoating for township participation.  This procedure is extremely labor intense.

Townships may select paved roads that have a qualified rating for sealcoating.  Like the graveling, GTCRC will provide the labor and equipment with the townships purchasing the material.
