Current Maintenance & Construction
Mild weather has given crews a break from winter maintenance. The spring breakup is creating potholes and the thawing is causing typical spring conditions on gravel roads. Warm temperatures and winds will help the frost thaw. Once conditions are ripe, gravel roads will be graded to smooth them out. Tree-lined areas will take longer to recover from winter.
Tree trimming and pothole patching can also be accomplished if weather is cooperative.
Snowplow routes are being reviewed for efficiencies in order to compensate for attrition.
During the 2009-10 season eight trucks were retrofitted with "wings" to clear roads in fewer passes. Motorists should be on the lookout for the wings are extended to avoid damage to their vehicles and our equipment.
