As you come across potholes, contact us with a good description of where they are -- nearest address, distance from intersection, what side of the road, etc. We can always use another set of “eyes” out there!

Winter Preparedness

We are gearing up for winter. Our winter sand pile is nearly as tall as as our salt barn.  Sander boxes, spreaders and blades are being installed as our trucks change gears from summer to winter operations.

There is still time to check your furnace and its filters, smoke detectors, chimneys and mailboxes.  The often-overlooked mailbox needs to be checked, too.  Click here for a quick overview on mailbox winter survival tips - a few minutes of inspection and repair could save hours of outdoor repairs and lost/damaged mail.

Bids

General Bid Information

The Grand Traverse County Road Commission advertises for bids for annual materials and service, typically in the spring.  Once awarded, bid price may be extended for a second year if mutually agreed upon by the vendor and the Road Commission.

Some services and materials are bought on infrequent basis.  In such cases, vendors are contacted to provide quotes before purchases are made.  Vendors interested in being placed on our bid list should contact the Road Commission Clerk. 

Surplus and used equipment is sold directly by bid from the Road Commission or the items are placed in a collective auction.  For the first time, our surplus equiment was posted on an online bid in October 2010 with other northern Michigan road commissions' equipment.  Contact the Clerk for more information or to be placed on our used equipment notification list.

Grand Traverse County Road Commission is seeking bids, proposals, or qualifications for the following:

Trucks and Equipment Installation bids are due February 13, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.

 

 

Sealed bids will be received at the Grand Traverse County Road Commission office, 1881 LaFranier Road, Traverse City, Michigan, 49696 for the following items on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.

All proposals are to be received on bid forms provided, in sealed envelopes plainly marked as to the product(s) bid upon and bear the name of the bidder. No facsimile or e-mail bids will be accepted. Bids may be extended for a second year upon mutual agreement of the bidder and the Board. The Board reserves the right to accept or to reject any or all bids; increase or reduce quantities, including dividing the bid projects into separate agreements; waive irregularities and/or informalities; and make the award(s) as may appear to the best interest of the Grand Traverse County Road Commission.
