The Road Commission offices were located on Thirteenth Street, across from Thirlby Field, from the 1940s until 1961.

The Silver Lake Road facility, across from the West Junior High School, was opened in 1961.  The property was sold in 1999 to the Copper Ridge Development.

The Road Commission's current facility was completed on December 17, 2001.  It features 6,000 sf of office space and 15,800 sf of equipment storage.  The enclosed salt building has a 10,000 ton capacity.

This facility is centrally located as far as populace and geography for the citizens of Grand Traverse County.
